Our emissaries to the unknown.
Probes, capsules, rovers, observatories, and homes in orbit.
Curated source records, not a live inventory.
Voyager 1
A robotic explorer of Jupiter and Saturn that later crossed the heliopause. Voyager 1 carries instruments for studying interstellar space and a Golden Record representing life on Earth.
Voyager 2
The only spacecraft to have visited all four giant planets. Its encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune transformed our understanding of the outer Solar System.
Hubble Space Telescope
An orbiting observatory studying the universe in ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared light. Astronaut servicing missions repaired and upgraded the telescope after its deployment.
Perseverance
A rover exploring Jezero crater for signs of ancient microbial life and collecting selected rock and regolith samples. It carried Ingenuity, the first aircraft to make powered, controlled flights on another planet.
Curiosity
The Curiosity rover investigates whether ancient environments in Gale crater could have supported microbial life. Its laboratory instruments analyze rocks, soil, and the atmosphere.
James Webb Space Telescope
An infrared observatory investigating early galaxies, star formation, and the atmospheres of worlds beyond the Solar System. Its segmented primary mirror unfolds to a diameter of 6.5 meters.
Apollo command module
The crew compartment and reentry vehicle of the Apollo spacecraft. The command and service modules supported flights to lunar orbit.
Eagle · Apollo 11 lunar module
A two-stage spacecraft designed to land on the Moon and return two astronauts to lunar orbit.
International Space Station
An international laboratory assembled in Earth orbit, supporting research in microgravity and long-duration human spaceflight.
Cassini
A Saturn orbiter that studied the planet, rings, and moons from 2004 until its planned atmospheric entry in 2017.
New Horizons
The spacecraft that made the first close reconnaissance of Pluto in 2015, then flew past the Kuiper belt object Arrokoth.
Parker Solar Probe
A solar probe designed to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere, using repeated Venus gravity assists to reshape its orbit.
Juno
A solar-powered spacecraft sent to investigate Jupiter’s interior, magnetic field, and atmosphere.
Dawn
An ion-propelled spacecraft that became the first mission to orbit two separate bodies beyond Earth.
MESSENGER
The first spacecraft to orbit Mercury. It mapped the surface and studied the planet’s composition and magnetic environment.
Magellan
A radar-mapping orbiter that revealed the surface of Venus beneath its opaque atmosphere.
